Okay, if I looked out my window and saw this, I'd be very deeply worried. (Uh, and yeah, that's a real photo. Full series here.)

It was -8°F (about -22°C) this morning when I got out of bed. Which I think means it was warmer here than at a number of my friends' homes, as scary as that is.

Yes, this is just a post about weather. Get over it.

Tomorrow's forecast )
Yep, that's the suck all right.

It's cold enough out that the Akita came in voluntarily. Now *that's* cold.

Currently it is 2° (about -16° C) and I'm feeling especially grateful for having a warm indoors. And shortly, as soon as I finish my tea, I'm going to consign myself to my even warmer bed.

I guess I got luckier with that ice storm than a lot of other people. [ profile] jostajam and any of my other friends who are making do without the mighty travelin' electrons, here's hoping you and families have found somewhere safe and warm to stay until the power comes back.

They're forcasting 6-8 inches of snow for my area between tonight and tomorrow night, then snow and sleet for most of Sunday and Monday. Noooooooooooo!

When I was heading to bed at stupid-o-clock this morning and went to let the beasties in and turn off the outside light, there was a moth fluttering around the door.

A moth.

It smelled distinctly like spring outside yesterday.

My irises are coming up.

I'd find absolute joy in these things if it was April.

It's the first week of January, and so far I've had *no* snow that didn't melt the moment it hit the ground. I should have giant snowbanks at the end of my driveway and half-built spastic snowmen and shallow snowforts all over the yard courtesy of the Daughter. Instead I was outside in a t-shirt yesterday.

We are so totally f*cked as a planet.
