After a couple of queries have gone unanswered to an anthology I subbed a piece to near the beginning of the year, I did some googling and found an official ToC for it, and I'm not on it. So I'm assuming that means they've rejected me (would've been nice to hear it directly.)

Anyway, that makes rejection #100.

This would be cause for a party, being a nice round number an' all, except that with the holidays looming a party just isn't in my immediate future of things I can pull off. So I defer my rejection party to sometime in January. Y'all have been warned (-:

There ought to be some sort of official 100-rejections badge to display as a proud monument to my stubborn tenacity in the face of everyone trying to tell me I suck. But it's after midnight, so maybe tomorrow.

I think I'm in the low to mid-60s these days. I never migrated my earlier submission records to Duotrope and haven't bothered to go back to my old backups to find them. I've still got about a half-dozen stories languishing after a market or two apiece; need to get back on that.

Regardless of my sloth, I'd put more than a monument in the face of anyone who said you suck though.

There really ought to be some sort of badge. 100 rejections certainly felt like a milestone when I hit it. (Or rather, crashed headlong into it. It's easy to rack up rejections at a breakneck pace if you don't manage to sell anything.)

Hope your next submission is a sale.

I say go for 200 or 250! Why? Because you're writing dammit. I haven't written 2000 words together worth a dime in years. But you're still being prolific. (While carrying a family unsupported I might add.) Keep at it. Go.

Go.

Go forever.
