Jul. 25th, 2007 06:37 pm(whimper) Still no Potter. I finished the last book I was reading (Poul Anderson's There Will Be Time) and don't want to start something else knowing the doorstop heading for my doorstep. So, sadly, I am forced to (sigh) work on my own damned writing.
Progress is slow, because I'm still Discouraged As All F*ck, but progress is progress and I'm now on (woooh!) chapter 9. And this is a bad guy chapter, so that'll be fun once I figure out what the hell they're up to.
Hell, maybe I'll even have a wordcount for later.
My writing group gets to tackle chapters 2 and 3 on sunday. Let's hope they don't completely hate it...

That's about 1300 for today, which is my best one-day wordcount in quite a while. Finished chapter 9, wherein my bad guys blow some shit up and then unwittingly make a tactical error that'll bite them on the ass sometime later in the book.
Meanwhile, in moments of lull, I've been thinking about Novel the First and its unfortunately long length, and second-guessing myself as to whether it would have been smarter to have broken it up into two normal-length books (a duology!) instead of submitting it as one. Too late now, at least for the time being, but I realize I just don't know which is more marketable. It wouldn't take much to break it up into two, but it seems like right now that'd be a bad distraction from finishing the current thing.
Anyhow, I just don't know enough to know what I should have done, and I wonder if I'm just an idiot for not thinking of this *before* sent it off.
