abuse my characters for me?

I need a injury that is at least somewhat disabling and that is a plausible result of having your airship shot at, crashing, and then rolling free only to fall down into a big rocky pit, which could also be reasonably dealt with using medical technology only a little more advanced than our own.

Ideas, anyone? I've already used the Dislocated Shoulder trick this book.
