Aha!

After backtracking and doing a full round of revision on the current 42k of Miledrop, I reached the half-written chapter where I had left off and stopped dead. I *hate* the chapter. One of my main characters has suddenly turned into a snivelly mess for no acceptable reason, and it's totally not in her character. Sure, I've put her through a lot of really traumatic stuff in the last eight chapters, but this is a woman who puts her boots on before she gets out of bed.

So if I delete that chapter, I can pretend I never wrote it and we can get things back on the proper ass-kicking take-no-prisoners track again, right?

Stupid me that it took me three months to figure that out. Oh well, I *have* had a lot of real-life stuff on my mind...

In other news, I have drafted a letter to the nearest ACD rescue org, but haven't been able to bring myself to send it yet. Meanwhile, Maisie Roo is as we speak curled up happily at my feet, and my fearsome kitty attempted [narrowly averted with great thrashing of arms and screaming] to leave a dead bird in my bed for me this afternoon. Ah, pets...

Also, three days of gloomy raininess (and yes, I appreciate the fact that we are getting rain when nobody else on the planet is) has kicked my Seasonal Affective Disorder into high gear. That plus the dog woes, a touchy stomach, and sundry other unpleasantnesses left me nearly non-functional today, but my good friend thegoodladyj provided some desperately needed company and I'm doing better now. And I unburied my full-spectrum lamp and it is a-shinin' on me as I type this, so hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
