missing out on all the fun
Dec. 6th, 2007 11:32 amI was putting gas in my car last night, and rather than suffer the dizzying agony of watching the price meter going up at a blur, I was reading all the little signs and stickers posted all over the pump, including the instructions for dummies. Most were obvious: turn off the engine, don't smoke at the pump, etc.
New to me was: turn off all electronic devices including cellphones
So my cellphone can somehow blow up gas stations? How close do I have to get? Do I have to press a certain button or sequence of buttons? (If so, if I contact Cingular, will they tell me what the sequence is?) How come as I've been driving around all over the place with my cellphone on for the last umpteen years, none of them have ever exploded? Does this mean my cellphone is defective?

Evil minion has just wandered by and expressed that indeed, a cellphone can in rare circumstances blow up a gas station if there's fumes and static and stuff. Huh.
So I suppose I shouldn't rub balloons in my hair while pumping gas either. Why isn't THAT on the warning label?!?
