(no subject)

I've just realized that my last several blog posts make me sound more irritable and argumentative than I (generally) am, though it is true that I have been crankier than usual lately. So I just wanted to say for the record that I argued with nobody all weekend (online or otherwise), got a lot of stuff done around the house, AND I almost managed to get some writing done (I read up to where I'd left off, and made a list of what needs to happen in the remainder of the chapter, so that kind of counts, right?)

Was everyone else well-behaved this weekend too?

Safety PSA

I almost forgot: my folks are flying off for a week in Costa Rica in a few days, and couldn't have picked worse timing. Apparently there are new-found problems with cracks in the windows of DC-9s. This is the original warning I was sent:

This is scary for anyone who travels frequently by plane!!!!
Actual crack in a US Airways DC-9 window frame! Fliers beware of the sub standard maintenance on the airplanes that you fly on. This is an actual crack that was found in the window frame on a DC-9. I'll definitely think twice before flying USAir.

okay, back to crankiness

One thing that's really pissing me off is the way certain news organizations seem to want to equate Obama vs. Hillary as fundamentally about male vs. female and/or about black vs. white.

I would like to hope that (other than stupid news commentators who'd like us to believe we're shallower than we actually are) there's nobody out there who doesn't see past the superficial tags of race and gender to the actual persons and issues at hand. And if there does exist such a person, I'd be surprised if they weren't voting Republican anyway...
