good day today
Feb. 24th, 2008 08:12 pmI had a really good day today, undimmed by a grumpier-than-usual child who proved, for once, unable/unwilling to self-entertain. Highlights of the day include:
butterflies!
having a giant, creepy (and sharp) bug crawl on my arm!
peanut udon noodles with ginger and other good stuff! (tomorrow's highlight: leftovers!)
tea!
conversation with other *actual* adults!
One of the best highlights of the day, though, was hearing something very simple phrased in just different enough of a way for something to click that hadn't before, relating to writing. Took the drive home to sink in, the duration of a much-needed nap to solidify in my backbrain, and now since I've been up again it's got me thinking about a whole lot of things from a just slightly new perspective. This is why one should endeavor to hang out with other writers, especially those better and more experienced than oneself.
(Thank you, oh fellow writers, for the great company; I'm sorry I'm such a slow eater, I realize after the fact that I was a bit of a boat-anchor to the restaurant with an entire bookstore left unexplored as a result...)
ETA: Ah!
matociquala has found a picture of the creepy bug! It was probably 5, maybe 6" long. Less-than-reassuring comment of the day: "Don't worry, that's not a stinger, it's an ovipositor!"
