Thwack thwack thwack went the car door
Feb. 23rd, 2009 10:26 pmAnother stupid way in which I've hurt myself.
I had just gotten out of my car at work this morning when a sudden, violent gust of wind came and slammed the car door back into me at high velocity. It was freaky how fast it happened, and how out of the blue; it wasn't windy at all when I first opened the door. The door hit me so hard and so fast that for a moment I couldn't figure out what hit me. It caught me on the side of my head right where my ear is, causing my ear to ring for a good chunk of the morning afterward (it's still sore to the touch) plus the impact was enough for me to have popped a blood vessel in my eye, so that's all creepy and red now. (Oddly, it was my eye on the opposite side of my head. Dunno how that worked out that way.) I figured that was the sum total of damage, but as I was putting the littlest bug's pajamas on tonight I turned my hand just so and a massive shooting pain went through my hand and down my wrist. It feels okay most of the time, but if I repeat that one particular motion the pain comes back. (So yeah, I stopped repeating that particular motion. At least intentionally.) Tonight it's ibuprofen and an early bed, if the bugs let me. Until then, tea.
But damn, that really *hurt*. Happy Monday. )-:
