It's a very strange experience when you go back to revisit/revise words you'd written a substantial amount of time ago. There are moments when you are absolutely blown away by sudden cleverness you didn't expect from yourself, and plenty of others where you dope-slap your own head and ask yourself, "WTF?"
Sometimes too there's an echo of your own innocence there, an optimism about the piece obvious in its every word and tone, and you marvel at it much as when you watch a movie set in NYC filmed before 2001 (because they always manage to get the towers into a shot somewhere, just to set the scene) you can't help but look at all the characters going about their roles and even though you're entirely aware that everyone is fictional you can't help but think, "but don't you *know*?"
Lot of bridges passed by the water, still no sign of the sea. Time to put the oars down again and pull.
