Feb. 19th, 2010 08:26 pmAbout a week ago one of the twins' crib mattresses popped a spring out the side. *Sharp*. It made a hole in the mattress pad and sheet and I ended up having to duct-tape a thick piece of cardboard over it to keep it covered up while I figured out what to do.

Anyhow, buying a new mattress was really *not* in my budget, and darn it, these things should last longer than 18months. I was hoping that maybe there was some sort of warranty still in effect, or maybe they'd give me a discount on a new one or something that would at least deflect some of the cost of replacing it. Honestly I didn't expected to get anywhere, but figured I just couldn't afford not to try. So I called Babies R Us, where I bought the mattress, and they pointed me at the manufacturer-by-name, Serta, who in turn pointed me at a company called LaJobi who apparently actually manufactures the crib mattresses under the Serta name.
I called LaJobi and the customer service rep. asked me to send her photos, which I did, and by gods they are sending me a whole new mattress.
Take note, corporate America: THIS is how you do customer service right.
LaJobi is also the company that made the twins' cribs, which I *love*, and you can bet that if/when opportunities arise to purchase other baby/kid stuff, they're going to be the first company I look at.
