Jul. 16th, 2010 10:46 pmyes, I'm whining about this on Facebook, LJ, AND twitter: my computer just blew up. No, really, with a bang and smoke and everything. What was I doing when this happened? I'd just started to burn a much-needed backup CD. Timing FAIL. )-:
ETA: Despite all, still managed to add ~700 words to the flesh-eating bacteria story. Bad guy is acting more directly, fist-fights erupt, everyone has a gas problem.
ETA2: (for clarity) I have two computers: 1. My windows box that I use for writing, surfing, etc., and 2. my linux system which contains, among other things, my personal wiki of universe-building notes and my book database holding info about the approx. 6000 fiction books I own. It was the latter that went BANG. I do backups of this system approximately monthly, but I'd done a lot of work on it over the last week, so if the hard drive is blown (pretty sure it's the power supply that just went kerphlooey, but I was making a backup because the hard drive was making noise) I will have lost stuff. )-:
