48,042 and I'm calling it a night. The urge to backtrack and edit is overwhelming, and I must step away before I succumb. Hopefully overnight my brain can figure out how to get all these tricksy little wrap-up bits to fall in line the way they should (but aren't) and then I can do a little fixin' and add the 2k I need to cross that darned finish line.

You know, then I can spend the next six months actually making it work, and not have to care about some silly wordcount thing.
