So I called the contractor this afternoon and they were dismayed and very apologetic, and are going to arrange to have their plumber come out ASAP and fix things and look at the damage; they should be calling me tomorrow to let me know when they'll be out.

Meanwhile, it's probably getting about time to go check the water level in the gravy boat...

Hope it gets sorted soon, but could not help noticing that

It's so good to read you have an honorable contractor! In my experience, that's a rare thing. My hubby and I paid more for a contractor with an honorable reputation for a big job we wanted done right...only to be disappointed in the end. Although the contractor took a few k off the bottom line for their "it happens every once in a while, the jinxed job-from-hell" ineptitude explanation, we still face uncorrected repairs four years later with no hope of correction or restitution.
