So I didn't manage to cross the 30k mark after all. The babies have been very difficult for the last several days (and nights, unfortunately) leaving me very sleep-deprived and not especially creative. Also, for the last several days my neck/back have been getting steadily worse, until I twisted it just wrong sometime during the night last night when I went to pick up Ada for the zillionth time and I'm in oodles of pain. I spent a lot of today sitting on the couch with a heating pad. I feel old. )-:
Anyhow, I still made good progress this month and I should be proud of myself. I revised the entirely of my partial first draft of Miledrop and started breaking new word territory, got the beginnings of a short story (Surf) off the ground, for a total between the two of 29,127 words. All things considered, not too bad. I could probably hammer out another 773 words before going to bed, but I won't because a) I'm too tired, b) I have to work tomorrow, c) there's better than even odds that at least one baby will be waking me up tonight, and d) any words I did write just to make the count would suck and need to be taken out later.
So, calling it the official end of NaNoCheaMo for me. We'll see where I stand by the end of the year -- hopefully this won't be the end of any real motivation/progress for 2008.
