Ice cream has been et, as has a distinctly mediocre pad thai (not together). Moping has been done. Not quite moped out, but reaching that sort of resigned "oh well, on to the next thing" stage.

Writing was a lot easier when I could pretend I didn't care about it.

Not many words down tonight -- only about 400 -- but I'm calling it quits. Because I'm tired? No. Because I'm trying to go to bed at an almost sensible hour? No. Because I've run out of stuff to write? No.

Because the damned dog just farted in my office, that's why. I'm outta here.

It seems I've made it into the preliminary nominations for the British Science Fiction Association Awards (the "long list") with my story Spheres.

There's a lot of big names on the list, a lot of really good stuff, so I have no real hope that I'll be one of the five stories that makes the short list (coming out on the 14th?) but still, I do the happy dance.

ETA: Man, I was so buzzed about finding my name on the list that I didn't even notice they spelled my name wrong! And I'm still so buzzed it doesn't even bother me!

Just a reminder, I'll be doing a reading with my writer's group at Arisia at 3:00pm on Saturday in Cambridge A. Show up! There'll be chocolately bribes to make it worth your while (plus, you know, the fiction!)
