No progress on writing this weekend, I'm afraid. The reasons are twofold (assuming one discounts personal inertia as a given): I spent most of my free time on Friday and Saturday sorting manuscripts for VP (I'm about halfway done), and (boooo!) my laptop died.

However, that has not kept me from thinking about writing. I had a *great* idea for a plot twist for Miledrop that makes me jump up and down in giddy pleasure at the thought of, however it would make Miledrop more dependent upon Farewell To Io, and it seems foolish to link something new to an unpublished novel that's currently not showing any signs of going anywhere (nor has it for 919 days.) But it's a GREAT twist. Gah, but I am conflicted.

And yes, since starting back in on Arcx, the backbrain has moved over to considering the issues with Miledrop again. I feel like I'm writing two novels at once here... or I would if, y'know, I was actually getting writing done. Spectacularly failing at Butt In Chair.

Also some short story ideas -- some new, some old -- have been richocheting through the vasty spaces of my hollow and echoing cranium. Two half-ideas may be coalescing into one, which would mean a return of Verah and Sofi. My pirate wants me to talk about him some more. The Aztecs are stuck in Dover and really itching to get on with things. My sea monster story wants me to make up my damned mind if it's a novella or needs to be a novel and just DO something. My sleepy mountain town is waiting for the rain to stop and morning to come shed light on its mysteries. Stan wants me to stop pouting about having spent precious time researching football only to put Michael Vick into his story mere months before the dog-fighting nastiness, retool the details with some other guy, and put him back into circulation. And Zombie Cabana Boy is... well, I'm still not quite ready to go there (-:

So lots to do. An' I did none of it yet. Ask me again at the end of the year.
