Eldest's school had a two-hour delay this morning, so I had to drag her with me to drop the twins off at daycare and from there to my chiropractor appointment. On the way, while I was paying attention to the very-slippery road, Eldest was gazing out the car window. All of a sudden she sticks her arm right in front of my face pointing to the side of the road and shouts, even as I'm turning to look where she's pointing, "BUTTCRACK!"

Sure enough, some poor person was bending over doing something with their car and was having an underwear malfunction. Didn't really need to see that.

Five seconds or so later, from the back of the car, a little voice pipes up: "Buttcrack!"

And then the other little voice joined in.

The rest of the car ride was a constant chorus of "Buttcrack!" from the back seat. Try paying attention to the slippery roads AND try not to laugh at the same time. It's not easy.

We got to daycare, unloaded the children and carted them in, providing an ongoing and hopefully distracting monologue about the snow and the sky and fun things they were going to do. Once inside we helped them get their coats and shoes off, got them settled, and then Boy-Child loudly declared: "Buttcrack!"

Every other kid in the room's ears perked up.

So: what do you want to bet that every single kid goes home today with a new vocabulary word, courtesy of mine?

Thank you for adding a wonderful laugh to my so-far frantic day.

LOL! Yeah, sounds about right. Ian's first word was "shit" - said very clearly from the back of the car when he was about one. We pretended it wasn't a word and he stopped saying it. (thank goodness!) But I wonder *looks over at husband* where he learned it...

Apparently they went mum on the "BUTTCRACK!" not long after I'd left them at daycare but today I heard it at least a half-dozen times out of the boy, so I'm wondering if he's saving it for me. No repeats from the girl-child yet.
