Analog has passed on my pirate tale (21 days round trip). The rejection is hand-signed by Stan Schmidt, and says "not quite suitable to our present needs". This is the second such rejection from them in a row. ISTR they used to send a form rejection -- does this mean I've moved higher up the food chain?

Date: 2007-07-10 12:27 pm (UTC)I've been bad and I haven't sent Analog anything since I got one of those letters from Stan...But I don't really write Hard SF. My story certainly wasn't laden with rivets, and he said that was exactly why he couldn't buy it. I wish I DID have something to send him. One gets the feeling that Analog is so starved for strong characters and original settings that one could get a small 'by' on the 'rivets' option...But I guess it ain't so.
