One does have to wonder, though, how a perpetual underdog like the Red Sox could have such a dramatic reversal of fortunes... I mean, a sweep? Honestly, as much as I love the Sox and did the happy dance all over the house at quarter past midnight last night, I can't help but wonder if there is possibly some external influence at work here. Like, say, could Lectroids from the Eighth Dimension have infiltrated major league baseball for their own inscrutable but certainly nefarious agenda?

Think it implausible? Think the Lectroids were defeated summarily by Buckaroo Banzai, never to rise again in our world? Or did the Lectroids live among us long enough to leave.... offspring?

Just sayin'

Of course, I could be completely wrong on this, a totally ludicrous idea. It's just as likely that someone from the future jumped back to make sure we won this game:

The Red Sox have had a good team for years now. They just couldn't get past the Yankees. When the Yankees can't do it, the Sox have a chance. And the Rockies were playing way over their heads. I thought they had momentum to carry into the Series, but they just didn't have the experience to work their way through a tough series.

Yeah, yeah. That's much less fun of an answer! (-:

The Sox have been really good the last few years, which has a lot to do with the changes in ownership. Still, as a lifelong Red Sox fan you get very used to seeing them come right up to the brink of success and then fail spectacularly, and it takes some getting used to that they're not doing that anymore. Not that it's not a happy thing to have to adapt (-:

I do feel, however, oddly compelled now to root for the Cubs for a while. It'd be nice to see them have a turn at success too.

As a Yankees hater, it was fun to root for the Red Sox. Then again, I'm also a diehard Mets fan, so all bets are off for Mets-Red Sox! ;)
