May. 14th, 2009 02:24 pmSo it's definitely the flesh-eating bacteria story (think King's The Stand meets an Agatha Christie novel meets the Archie McFee catalog) that's eating up all my spare brain-time. I know exactly how the story unfolds, who all the characters are, how the plot progresses -- but I don't know which of my many colorfully suspect characters is the bad guy, and I'm not sure why he/she's doing what he/she's doing. It's an awful lot like being the Commandant in a game of Mafia, only there's no Jim Macdonald to give me a yes or no nod when I point questioningly at someone.
Right now I'm just lingering in the early paragraphs trying to be inconspicuous, waiting for either a burst of sudden insight or one of the characters to slip up and reveal him/herself. Aaaaaaany minute now...
